Duh, Mom

Katelyn has a very tender head. Now, I mean really tender. She does not like it to be brushed or messed with at all. If her hair gets pulled it causes anger and tears. She's a bit like her mother in that regard. She likes her hair long, so to avoid tangles her hair is often braided or in pony tails or both.
Today, Katelyn's hair was done in two high side pony tails which were then braided.
Tonight before bed I asked her if she wanted me to take them out so she could sleep better. I even suggested that I could put them in two lower braids so they would be more out of the way for sleeping.
Not wanting to have her hair bothered with again she simply and with a tone of logistics said, "uh, Mom, I can just sleep on my face. I do that sometimes."
Oh, well duh!

Melt My Heart

Landon came home from preschool and was in a bit of a somber mood. He was sitting on the floor and I sneaked up behind him and quickly pulled him onto my lap giving him a big hug, saying, "Here's my four-year-old boy! Oh, here he is! Will you please be my sweet, little four-year-old boy forever?" Please, please, please?"
He giggled and said sweetly, "Noooooo."
"No? Why not?"
"Because I want to be a dad."

Oh, melt my heart! I hugged him some more and said, "Well, okay."
